Project type: Silverlight video portal
Role: Frontend Developer

This video portal sits as part of the Everton FC website. A subscription-only service, all the videos are DRM protected and use Microsoft's Smooth Streaming technology to provide the best quality the user's bandwidth can provide, right upto HD quality. Everton FC wanted a product that not only improved on the existing offerings but that really stood out from the similar services of other clubs.

The Silverlight frontend makes accessing the video content easy and fast and the animated feedback to interactions makes the journey more engaging.

As the sole Frontend Developer on the project I was tasked with converting the Photoshop designs into vectors, taking those into Silverlight and creating all user controls including their animations. I wrote a number behaviours to control feedback to user interactions and loading bars.

I was involved with developing the concept to create an extremely advanced design that would work within the limitations of DVD technology. I created the menus in Photoshop and authored the disc in DVD Studio Pro on Mac OSX.

The British Heart Foundation needed a solution to provide information to the parents of children who have recently been diagnosed with congenital heart disease. This sensitve subject needed to be communicated in an understanding and comforting way. The design concept follows on from the films, inviting you into a home to seek advice from families in similar situations, rather than a more clinical approach.

I was responsible for the concept and created the design in Photoshop. I created motion graphics for the menu in After Effects and authored the disc in DVD Studio Pro.

The Bowland Trust create and deploy educational resources throughout UK schools. Our team was tasked with creating a resource that would make maths lessons more engaging for 11-16 year old pupils.

Built in Flash and using MDM Zinc for additional desktop functionality, the resource consisted of printable work sheets and teachers' notes alongside an application featuring video and slides designed to run on an interactive whiteboard.

I created designs for the interface, including the satellite view and map, which required blending features of many different aeriel views to make one that matched the geometric maths problems. I also authored the application using AS3 for Flash and MDM Script for MDM Zinc.
